Are you looking for a Guildford Family Photographer? If so, I think this session will give you a great flavour of what I enjoy capturing during a family photography session.
First of all I like to have a chat on the phone prior to the session, to understand more about your family. This might include what style of portraits are important to you and who will be there. In addition where we will shoot and of course offer advice on what to wear! When I arrive in your home or in your chosen location, we start by going through the plan. I have a quick run around to check out the best spots! Then it’s all systems go for having family fun with the children directing us most of the time!
The shoot evolves organically, there’s no set order for me taking pictures. I know I want to get all the usual combinations of whole family, single portraits, siblings together, with each parent etc. But the order we shoot, tends to unfold with how the sessions takes us! The flow of the shoot is very relaxed, informal and above all fun. That’s the best way to capture the essence of your personalities and your unique family story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this session taken last month in the Surrey Hills. The house and gardens are stunning, the sun was shinning and everyone was on great form so my job was very easy! The parents said after “thank you for a simply stunning set of pictures. We really love them.” My pleasure, that’s wonderful to hear, I am so glad. I can’t wait to deliver your frames!

This Surrey family photography session is a great example of what a family photo shoot with me is all about. Basically, lots of laughter and natural outdoor fun! The shoot took place last week in one of the family’s favourite local gardens. I am extremely fond of this family, who I have had the pleasure to photograph before. Their daughter is so sweet natured and extremely pretty (just like her Mummy!) So really the photoshoot was very easy! This was their third session with me in my baby package. Which consists of three sessions over about 12-18 months.

I am always amazed to see how much children grow in the first two years, there really is no other time like it. Blink and you miss it! So it’s a really precious time to record not only for the child and parents but for generations to come.

At the viewing session I can guide you through selecting beautiful bespoke frames and canvases which range from £125 to about £500 depending on size. Digital files start from £350 for 10. 2017 Family and headshot photography session highlights
So it seems I have still not found the magical solution to stopping time, even after trying a wide array of wands on a brilliant day out at Harry Potter World earlier this month! So for the time being, we shall all have to be content enjoying every day we do have with our family and friends even if they whizz by so quickly!
The reason I take so many photos of my children (several thousand each year!) is that I like to record the moments I might forget in years to come. It’s the little details that I love, sometimes overlooked. But in years to come will bring me such happiness when they remind me what they were like at that stage of their lives. I love looking at a portrait that brings back not only a visual reference to that moment but brings back the sound of the laughter, the warmth of the sunshine or the smell of the flowers. I certainly felt that when I looked through all the headshot and family photography sessions I had in 2017. They all brought back such happy memories of the fun we had during these family photoshoots. That’s the important word, ‘fun’! That really is the essence of my photography sessions. We are having fun, it shines through the pictures, brings out your true personalities, whilst you are having a great time! I am so pleased when people feedback that they didn’t realise it was going to be so much fun! That’s my aim, for your children to enjoy what they like doing best. If they are happy, you are happy and we can relax and enjoy ourselves!
Thank you so much for your support in 2017, it really has meant so much to me! It was an amazing year and I feel very honoured to have captured such special moments for so many lovely families. I have lots of exciting plans for 2018, and look forward to sharing these with you soon!

I really enjoyed being the family photographer for this lovely family from Croydon in Surrey. We had such a fun time messing about in the garden, climbing trees and having running races! This family photography session really sums up the essence of a professional family shoot. There’s plenty of fun and games, giggles and cuddles and most importantly being directed by the children. Letting them tell us what they wanted to do! The family are a great example of following the advice of my what to wear guide! Their colours coordinated so well and really toned in with the autumnal colours.
We had a great time at the viewing sessions. I always like to present a selection of ideas to help the family start to consider how best to display their favourite portraits. You can see some of these ideas below.

Family Photographer Shere Surrey
I really adore these two girlies and their Mummy too! It was so exciting to be asked to photograph my dear friend Amice and her gorgeous girls. I last photographed them three years ago. We did the family photography shoot in their garden in Shere Surrey. This was a perfect idea, so personal and familiar to the girls. They loved showing me all their favourite places to play. In addition the autumn colours provided us with the perfect backdrop. We couldn’t help but have a great time!
You may notice that the girls changed clothe. Which is an option for any family photography shoot. It has the advantage of giving you a new look. Which it certainly did when I persuaded the girls to get into the flowerbed amongst the red branches! I knew the colours would work well, the red looks so striking.
Amice was thrilled with her family portraits and I can’t wait to deliver her frames, all in time for Christmas!

Wow! I am so excited to have just handed over this stunning portrait photography album to a very happy client! I just love designing portrait albums. This particular album features about 40 pictures from a Surrey family photography shoot I did in September. It’s fun getting creative with the design of these books. Sometimes I display several pictures on one page together, on others I might do a picture flowing right across a double page. It all comes together to create a very special portrait book that will be admired for many years to come.

What a joy it was to be the baby photographer for dear little Sophie and parents from Godalming in Surrey. You may recognise her parents from their Surrey maternity session last month at Newlands Corner. I was so excited to hear of Sophie’s safe arrival into the world. It was such a treat to go and photograph her at home at just 2 weeks old.
She really was so tiny and perfect in every way. It was clear to see that Mum and Dad were already besotted. They could hardly take their eyes of their beautiful daughter for the whole of the baby photographer session. So it was easy to capture the love that filled the room. It’s such a treat being a baby photographer. It’s particularly special when I’ve met the parents before at their maternity photoshoot so we get to know each other. We can enjoy chatting about the upcoming events! They are all doing so well and I am very much looking forward to their next session with me in the Spring. When Sophie may well be crawling!

Nicola is extremely friendly and welcoming, and captured magical images from both posed and more informal moments in our time together.
