Surrey Mini Photography Session
I love getting feedback from clients, it helps me to respond to people’s needs and allows me to mix up what I offer to people. Recently there has been a demand in mini photography sessions. These are great for people who are in a small group (maximum of four people) and are looking for a short photo shoot and selecting just a few digital files.
The session takes place in the studio garden or the woods very close to the studio. This allows us to do the shooting part in around 30 minutes, and go back to the studio. After that we then look through the files straightaway. Subsequently you choose 10 files as part of the mini package. However you are welcome to choose more if you wish.

The session below is a lovely example of a Surrey mini photography session. This gorgeous mum and her two boys were such good fun on our short walk through Winterfold Woods. It was an extremely misty morning so there wasn’t much of a view! However we still enjoyed a lovely walk and got a super set of pictures that will remind her of this stage of her boys’ lives.
The family were thrilled with their pictures and generously left me a 5* rating on google reviews!

It was so lovely to photograph baby Ethan and family from Guildford in Surrey. I had photographed the family a month before when Mummy Liezel was 8 months pregnant so it was great to meet the new arrival. The family are doing very well and enjoying settling in to life as a family of four.

Are you looking for a professional family photographer Dorking?
I cover all the Dorking area plus surrounding towns across Surrey, including Guildford where I am based. I am happy for you to choose the location for your shoot or I can make some suggestions.
This session was such good fun at Wisley Gardens. On this occasion, the family were happy to go with my suggestion. Wisley is absolutely stunning all year round. There are always pockets of colour whenever you go, so you’re guaranteed to have a lovely time and get some beautiful portraits.
I really enjoyed my time with the family. We started off by chatting and finding out what sort of portraits the family were looking for. After, we took a gentle walk around the gardens stopping wherever the little girl fancied. It’s important not to have too much of a prescriptive morning planned, but rather see where the moment takes us.

Family Photographer Surrey // Professional Family Photographer Dorking
Patience is key if you’re a Surrey children’s photographer, and luckily I have bucket loads! Parents often worry about how their children will behave on the shoot. Particularly if they’ve not met me before, are shy or just quite young! But I always say to parents, please don’t worry as it’s a very relaxed shoot. We take the direction from the children, see what they are comfortable wit. Where they’d like to go and see how the shoot develops! I have a bag full of puppets, games, bubbles and a few smarties. So there’s always something to amuse the children with, so we have fun and can capture some relaxed natural emotions.
This family shoot was great fun. The kids were in charge so we followed them around the gardens as they discovered lots of different flowers and met some friendly ducks! The session was bought as a gift for the family so it was a lovely surprise for them and a great opportunity to capture their beautiful family at this exciting time.

I loved being the Guildford portrait photographer for this delightful family. They are from Shere just east of Guildford in Surrey. Their daughter is so was sweet and playful, that the session couldn’t have been more lovely. They wanted to retrace the steps of their favourite places that they visit on family walks on the weekend. So with wellies on and the sun shining we took a wander along the side of the stream. Then let the mood take us!
I am quite familiar with the area as we live only a few miles away. So we often enjoy walks along here with our children. I was delighted to be shown a new path that leads up to an amazing view point and fabulous swing that I was rather tempted to try! We love a secret little woods than only locals know about. I will enjoy a walk up there again another day! There’s a lovely pub at the top of the hill so even more reason for a Sunday walk with a reward at the end!

Cranleigh family photo shoot in Surrey
What a fabulous way to finish the year with this gorgeous Cranleigh family photo shoot. I have had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family before. So I knew it was going to be a very fun session.
The main focus was on capturing the four cousins together enjoying time in the woods. This was a ‘mini’ family photo shoot so shorter than my full sessions. Therefore we worked hard to pack in as much as possible in thirty minutes. Which included taking some pictures of the children together, plus some individual portraits and sibling shots. The colours in the woods still looked gorgeous proving you really can shoot all year round! As this was a mini session the family came straight back to the studio after to look through the portraits. They saw the pictures on the big screen. Then they decided which were their favourites which I then edited within a few days. A mini session is a more economical shorter version of my full family sessions.
The photos were going to be a Christmas gift for grandparents. I am sure were very happy to receive such beautiful portraits.

Are you looking for a Guildford family photo shoot? I took such pleasure in capturing this gorgeous family of five for their Guildford family photo shoot last month at Winkworth Arboretum. The kids were fabulous, so much fun, I am sure the parents were very proud of them!
The autumn colours were sensational! The views around every corner were stunning. It certainly made my job very easy! We had such fun discovery little pathways, stepping stones, logs to jump off and having running races. We all needed a sit down at the end!
I love this time of year, the leaves seem to change through a kaleidoscope of colours literally day to day. The light is so soft and flattering, it’s fun to play around with it on a family photo shoot.

Family Photographer Surrey // Guildford Family Photo Shoot
These guys totally rocked their Godalming family photo shoot! The twins are only three and were a little bit apprehensive to start with, so I took time to get to know them, worked out what they wanted to do, and the session soon started to flow! We had great fun admiring the autumn colours, exploring the woods and playground and having a leaf fight!
During their viewing I was overjoyed to hear them say “this was the shot I envisioned when planning the shoot”. (I did a little fist pump I have to admit!) It’s so satisfying to know you’ve met (and hopefully exceeded) your clients vision, so I was thrilled to know how much they will enjoy their portraits in years to come.

Family Photographer Surrey // Godalming Family Photo shoot
I really enjoyed this autumn family photo shoot in Godalming, Surrey. We took the pictures at Winkworth Arboretum which looks spectacular in October and November. Each year the colours are a riot of reds, oranges and yellows and it’s no wonder it attracts visitors from far and wide to admire one of natures finest displays of autumnal colours.
The family are absolutely delightful, and we had such a lovely time from start to finish. The boys are so sweet and playful together which made the session very easy. We really enjoyed playing in the leaves, climbing trees and having some running races. All good family fun enjoying the outdoors with a welcoming helping of sunshine.
After the shoot the family kindly gave me a five star review. “Nicola captured so many amazing and very natural shots while on an enjoyable walk at Winkworth. She knew exactly the right locations to get fantastic family photos with an array of autumn colours. I particularly loved her bag of tricks to help the kids smile more naturally! Family Photographer Surrey // Family Photo shoot Godalming
It was so lovely getting to know this gorgeous family on the morning of their photography shoot. They were looking for a Leatherhead family photographer to capture them at home with their delightful children aged 15 and 13. The morning was very easy just enjoying time in their garden on a glorious warm and bright autumnal day.
We moved round the garden, taking in some of their favourite spots and making the most of the soft light.
It’s nice to use somewhere special to you – perhaps a park, play area, your garden or local woods. Or alternatively I am happy to suggest a suitable location depending on the time of year. Perhaps we can play around in the daffodils in March, walk amongst the bluebells in May, pick apples in August, kick up the autumn leaves and climb trees in October! I undertake family photography shoots all over Surrey, Berkshire and West Sussex. It’s all about capturing your family having fun and doing what you enjoy together as a family. As soon as we confirm your date and location, I will send you a comprehensive ‘Guide to preparing for your session’. This has plenty of tips like ‘What to wear for your family photography session’ to ensure you are ready on the day.
Framing Ideas
Before this family’s viewing session I took time to create some examples of what their portraits would look like in different single frames and multiframes. This really helps the family to consider how they can display their favourites in their home. Of course these ideas are just a starting point, but it’s a useful way of getting some inspiration.
