2017 Family and headshot photography session highlights
So it seems I have still not found the magical solution to stopping time, even after trying a wide array of wands on a brilliant day out at Harry Potter World earlier this month! So for the time being, we shall all have to be content enjoying every day we do have with our family and friends even if they whizz by so quickly!
The reason I take so many photos of my children (several thousand each year!) is that I like to record the moments I might forget in years to come. It’s the little details that I love, sometimes overlooked. But in years to come will bring me such happiness when they remind me what they were like at that stage of their lives. I love looking at a portrait that brings back not only a visual reference to that moment but brings back the sound of the laughter, the warmth of the sunshine or the smell of the flowers. I certainly felt that when I looked through all the headshot and family photography sessions I had in 2017. They all brought back such happy memories of the fun we had during these family photoshoots. That’s the important word, ‘fun’! That really is the essence of my photography sessions. We are having fun, it shines through the pictures, brings out your true personalities, whilst you are having a great time! I am so pleased when people feedback that they didn’t realise it was going to be so much fun! That’s my aim, for your children to enjoy what they like doing best. If they are happy, you are happy and we can relax and enjoy ourselves!
Thank you so much for your support in 2017, it really has meant so much to me! It was an amazing year and I feel very honoured to have captured such special moments for so many lovely families. I have lots of exciting plans for 2018, and look forward to sharing these with you soon!

Family Photographer Shere Surrey
I really adore these two girlies and their Mummy too! It was so exciting to be asked to photograph my dear friend Amice and her gorgeous girls. I last photographed them three years ago. We did the family photography shoot in their garden in Shere Surrey. This was a perfect idea, so personal and familiar to the girls. They loved showing me all their favourite places to play. In addition the autumn colours provided us with the perfect backdrop. We couldn’t help but have a great time!
You may notice that the girls changed clothe. Which is an option for any family photography shoot. It has the advantage of giving you a new look. Which it certainly did when I persuaded the girls to get into the flowerbed amongst the red branches! I knew the colours would work well, the red looks so striking.
Amice was thrilled with her family portraits and I can’t wait to deliver her frames, all in time for Christmas!

If you are looking for a professional children’s headshot photographer, I work all over Surrey. In addition I cover Berkshire and other surrounding counties. It’s always a pleasure to meet aspiring child actors who are looking for some beautiful portraits. For example to use in a variety of ways. I photograph lots of children and adult actors and musicians for auditions. Also professionals wanting a stand out picture for new job opportunities, presentations, company reports and their websites,. Also quite a few people looking for a gorgeous picture for dating websites!
Emily-Anna’s parents approached me to take some headshots for her acting agency (Guildford School of Acting – GSA). GSA at the University of Surrey is one of the most highly regarded theatre schools in the UK. We had great fun taking plenty of pictures to demonstrate a variety of different looks. I encouraged her to think about all sorts of things in order to get the different expressions. This included one of my favourites ‘think of a secret’, I wonder what she was thinking! After we took the pictures we narrowed down our favourites and then sent these in a gallery for her agent to choose. Below is the gallery she saw and the final three favourite edited portraits.

Children grow so quickly, it seems you blink and you miss a few months! So with this being a milestone year with the family’s eldest child starting secondary school. They wanted to record their story with a Godalming family photography shoot. So they could look back on this stage and enjoy the memories for years to come.
The family chose late summer for their family photography shoot. This was perfect as they were tanned, rested, relaxed and up for enjoying some fun family time! For example, the children really enjoyed showing me their favourite places around the garden. In addition some of the things they loved doing including a few of their favourite hobbies. Of course this makes the shoot all the more fun! Their daughter put on her ballet outfit. She was an absolute natural, I was very impressed.
Kind thoughts
After the session, at the viewing, the family carefully chose several portraits from the photoshoot. These were put in frames around their home which we were all excited to see. I had a lovely review from the family after they were delivered. They sid they thought they were ‘amazing’ which I am thrilled about!

Godalming Family Photography Shoot // Nicola Light Photography
I loved meeting Bridget and family for their professional Croydon family photographer session which took me slightly further afield than usual to Coombe Wood near Croydon, South London. It was lovely to visit somewhere new, which was so beautiful and perfect for family photography! The family love to walk there so it made for an ideal location for their Croydon family photography shoot especially as the girls were familiar with the garden so could show me where to go! As you can see we had great fun enjoying the summer weather (yes the sun was shinning!) and lots of time to play.
Bridget said after her viewing session, “Thank you for the files…we have really enjoyed looking at the photos again, they are amazing! Thank you again for doing such a fab job. It was so important to me to have lovely pictures of the family before they all grow too big!”

It was great to catch up with these siblings from Guildford in Surrey for their second teenage portrait photographer session with me. It’s so lovely to see so many returning families. It’s great to build a relationship with the family and be part of documenting their journey to adulthood. I always enjoy the variety of people I photograph from bumps, to babies. Then through to toddlers, young children, teens and adult professionals. It’s fun to mix it up! In a typical week I am photographing all of these different groups!

I adored this large family photography session. It took place in the gardens of
St Augustine’s Abbey in Blackheath near Guildford in Surrey. It was a very special place for the couple as they got married here in the 90s! They had an idea to use a Surrey professional photographer to capture them all those years later. Of course this time it was with their three children and two of their fiances! Little would they have known how wondferul their marriage path would be. Or how blessed they’d be with three gorgeous children and their partners. It was fun recreating their pose from their wedding day in the Abbey arch.
Mum kindly said after. ” For my husband’s 60th birthday, we decided to organise a family photo shoot in the grounds of the church where we were married. Nicola was very creative in her ideas for both group and individual pictures. She was friendly, upbeat and patient throughout the session. She also put everyone at their ease. We will cherish the photos and memories. I would highly recommend her.”

I love taking on projects of all types, and I am delighted to share this professional Surrey photographer shoot. It took place from last month where we shot on St Martha’s Hill in Surrey. It’s a well loved local beauty spot where the family enjoy spending time. Popular for walking, running and cycling. The views from the top are very rewarding which is a relief as the walk up can be quite tiring. Although we cheated a bit by using the car park half way up! When I take my children up there, I usually have to incentivise them with a promise of an ice cream after! No bribery was required on this day though and we all had a great time!
With smaller children I sometimes offer little smarties if we need a little incentive. I also have an impressive bag full of stickers to tempt any little girl or boy. They always love choosing at the end.
Surrey Hills
I am a huge lover of the countryside and particular fan of the Surrey hills. You are never short of things to do from great walks to bike trails and orienteering. Although I have to admit the latter is not totally my bag! I seem to always be the one holding the map upside down, although since using apps on my phone we get less lost these days!
