Are you looking for a baby photographer in Horsham?
This gorgeous 1 month old baby from Horsham in West Sussex was such a treat to be the photographer for last week. He was ever so good although a little reluctant to fall asleep on his own! So we used every trick in the book to make sure he was happy and settled. It brought back so many memories of trying to settle my own babies. I can remember after what seemed like hours of rocking until they feel asleep, I’d carefully lay them down and tip toe out (holding my breath) only to find within minutes of leaving the room, they would wake again and start crying (usually just as I myself got into bed!). I don’t mind admitting I rather enjoy my undisturbed nights these days! Although even at 6 and 8 my children do sneak down the corridor now and then for a reassuring cuddle, which mostly I don’t mind at all!

This little baby girl from Horsham in West Sussex was so perfect in every way. It was so special to be her Horsham baby photographer for this delightful expanding family. The bond between this beautiful newborn baby and her parents was clearly so strong already! I love all the detail shots, it’s so special to record these otherwise it’s so easy to forget how tiny they once were! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much fabulous hair on a baby! My first child had very little hair for about a year. So I always find it amazing that babies can all be so different!
This little one was such a poppet throughout her baby photography session, as good as gold. Let’s hope she continues to be as good over the next few months!!! I can remember being so tired during those first few months. Thank heavens they do start to let you get a bit more sleep after a while!

It was such a treat to welcome back this lovely family. It was an honour to be their baby photographer Guildford Surrey to photograph their second child. This time a gorgeous bouncing baby boy! I first met them a couple of years ago when we did a maternity photography shoot in Guildford. This was before the arrival of their beautiful baby girl. Subsequently we did a newborn baby photography shoot for her. We’ve since done two other family photography shoots around Guildford documenting her journey into toddlerhood! This session was focusing just on their new arrival. Of course I am looking forward to photographing them as a family of four in the future.
It is so lovely documenting a family’s journey. Especially through those early days. You forget how small they once were. It’s a whirlwind of sleepless nights and desperately trying to navigate your way through the early weeks.

Are you looking for some pet photography Surrey or surrounding counties? I love including some pet photography on family photoshoots. Animals are such an important part of the family. So it’s pretty common for families to ask if I can include them! Of course I always do as it’s important to remember these much loved animals. It’s delightful to witness the interaction between children and their pets. They are often such close relationships. Therefore capturing the children having a cuddle and some fun with their pet brings out such a sweet and playful side of their personality. Over the years I’ve photographed all sorts of animals from cats and dogs, to horses, pigs and chickens! I always say there is no pet I can’t photograph. Although I would have to put by brave face on if you have a rat or a snake!
We have three much adored cats. Each has a very different personality. Occasionally I am lucky enough to get a photo of all three together. One is rather shy to we have to encourage her out into the garden.
If you would like a session just for your animal rather than humans too (!) that is fine. Happy to offer a bespoke session for exactly what you need. Maybe it’s just you and your horse, or the dogs together.

It has been such a sad week with the loss of one of our much adored kittens who was very much a part of the family. I’ve been trying to help the children to understand the loss of their pet and how we can remember Luke in a happy way. I’ve learnt quite a lot since Friday….
- Shopping in Guildford with no make and puffy eyes increases the probability of bumping into people you know. Leaving the hairdressers lowers the probability.
- After extensive driving, WHSmith has the best range of beanie boo cats in Surrey.
- Having new beanie boo cats does help to aid a child’s grief, however the peak seems to be about 6 beanie boos, after which the effect plateaus.
- A new ninja costume is a good distraction.
- Even though a cat is not a human it still causes so much grief, although thankfully more in adults than a child.
- A glass or 2 of wine helps, a whole bottle definitely does not.
- Naming your sibling pets something cute like Luke and Leia, makes the passing of one, more poignant as it’s more obvious one is missing.
- My children are very brave. My braveface needs to become more convincing.
- There is no limit to how many chocolate pancakes a 6 year old can eat.
- You can never have too many cuddles with those that you love.
Smiles are slowly returning but it’ll take a bit of time.

It was so lovely to meet this gorgeous family from Wonersh in Surrey for their portrait photoshoot last week. I love being a Surrey portrait photographer for exactly the reason of meeting families like this! We had a great time playing in the leaves, jumping off logs and climbing trees, all great family fun! The parents said after “Nicola was very personable and engaged so well with the children. She really captured their personalities and presented us with some beautiful and unique images.”
Thank you, it really was my pleasure! I love finding outdoor locations that are special to you. Places you can me yourselves, have space and be natural. Why not bring along your special teddy or other toys. It’ll remind you in years to come what is special to you. I love these type of pictures of my children.
