If you are looking for a Surrey photographer to take some headshots of you, read on!  Over the last eight years I have undertaken over 100 headshot sessions for individuals. They were looking for a standout headshot. For example for business profiles, actors castings, authors book jackets, and dating profiles!

With so many choices out there, sometimes it can be overwhelming when looking for the right Surrey photographer for you.  So I suggest to people to ask around for recommendations. Or do an internet search and look at some websites of Surrey photographers in your area. If the headshot pictures that you see, match your expectations. Also the sort of feeling that you want for your profile pictures then they could be the right photographer for you. Next, ask the photographer how long the session is. Where it will take place,  and the costs associated with the digital files.

The plan

My headshot sessions tend to take place in Surrey mostly in the garden of my home studio. I’m based in Cranleigh just south of Guildford although I am open to discussing locations of your choice. My sessions take about two hours which can include a clothes change if you wish. The session is very relaxed. It’s all about capturing your true personality. The session cost is £150 which includes three digital files. If you wish to choose more, you are most welcome they are £35 each.

I had such a great time photographing Martin last week for his headshot session.  We had a chat on the phone prior to the shoot to discuss the details so that when he came in we were ready to shoot. Afterwards Martin kindly said. “Great headshot session with Nicola this week. We got all the photos I needed both for home and business. With some quick changes of clothes and then sorting and selecting the best photos all in one session. Thanks Nicola”.

Surrey Photographer // Headshot Photographer Surrey

Towards the end of last year this talented school girl was looking for actors acting headshots Guildford in Surrey to submit for an audition. It was a last minute request so rather than take the shots during the day using natural light, I went to her house in the evening to take the pictures against a plain wall.

She had a few clothes changes and the shoot took about 30 to 45 minutes. I had been through her wardrobe with her to discuss various colour options and looks. If you’re coming into the studio for the pictures you’re welcome to bring lots of different outfits so we can work out the best selection for you. We can also do a zoom call beforehand if you would rather narrow down what you bring before you come in.

After the shoot I went back to the studio and we conducted the selection of pictures on zoom. (Isn’t that the way with all interaction these days!!) This allowed them to see all the pictures and choose their favourites.

As with all actors headshots we covered a range of expressions, poses and looks. This allows you to show your versatility and hopefully catch the viewers eye.

Surrey Corporate Headshots

I loved taking these corporate headshots Guildford earlier this month. I knew this lovely lady because I had taken family pictures for her in the summer. So I was delighted to be invited back when she needed some corporate headshots for an upcoming presentation.

We managed to squeeze them in just before lockdown. She couldn’t take much time off between zoom meetings so I took them in her garden in the soft afternoon light.

I then retouched a gallery of pictures for her to choose from. Most people have their pictures taken in the studio garden, or the studio itself. But I’m very open to locations that suit you better.

This lady only wanted one outfit, so we stuck with that. However you are very welcome to bring several outfits, it’s quite common for people to bring four or five. This can result in an affective range of different looks for your final portraits. They can be used across different sources like social media presentations etc. They won’t all look like they’ve all been taken on the same day which some people prefer too.

If you are a company that needs several (or lots!) of employees headshots taken, I am happy to come to your workplace to spend a few hours so that it minimises their time out from working.

I get lots of enquiries for Guildford children’s acting headshots. This little girl came through her Lamda teacher. I have photographed quite a few of her students so far. I think she must be a very good teacher because her students are full of passion and talent!

This little girl is an obvious star in the making. Her personality immediately filled the room. Her confidence for an eight year old was astounding. She was so delightful, polite and enthusiastic. Her excitement was clear and didn’t let up for the two hours she was with me!

As with all my headshot sessions we started by looking through the clothes she had brought with her in the studio. There was an amazing array of outfits. I was rather jealous! We decided what order we would do the outfits and also the hair options with those.

We wanted to portray her as widely versatile as possible. So with each outfit we mixed up the backgrounds and expressions. I directed her through a range of expressions in order to get a spectrum of shots. She was very easy to work with!

After we had taken the pictures we loaded them up onto the big screen and went through them. Now came the hard part! There was so many brilliant shots. We normally narrow it down to between three and 10. But there was so many gorgeous ones they ended up with about 15! I’m delighted that they have also booked in for a family session next month. A testament to how pleased they were with the outcome of the session.

I was delighted to be the Surrey professional headshot photographer for Charlotte Hunter nutrition. Charlotte is an expert in helping women navigate their way through the different stages of the menopause. For instance with personalised nutrition plans, tests and support.  Thankfully the menopause is being discussed more openly these days. In her field, Charlotte is very much seen as the woman to turn to for valuable advice. So I know where to go for diet and lifestyle tips in a few years time!

Charlotte wanted lots of pictures of herself which didn’t look like they were shot on the same day. So she had ten different outfits with accessory changes. These will be used to drip feed her social media over the coming months. We made sure that we used a variety of props and locations to mix it up too!

Charlotte also wanted to be pictured working. So we had quite a few showing her either writing notes, on her laptop and on her iPad. We did discuss her bringing a client in for shots of a face-to-face meeting. However she wanted to save that for another occasion.

These Surrey professional headshot photography sessions are perfect for small businesses. These days we really have to show the face behind our brands. It’s so important for people to see who they are buying from. Especially when it’s a small independent business. I always get the most likes on a post when it is of me!

Are you looking for a headshot photographer Farnham or other towns in Surrey? I’d be delighted to help.  I’m back up and running with headshots now we are allowed to meet socially distanced.

I can come to your place of work. Alternatively you can come into the studio where I will take the pictures either against a plain backdrop or outside. It is a bit easier if you come here because we load the pictures onto the big screen straight away. This allows you to see all the pictures and choose your favourites. My software is great at allowing you to compare different shots so you can narrow down your favourites. This is far easier than an online gallery. If you like, I can advise on which portraits are better than others too! Some people like a second opinion.

You also have control over the editing. Some people like a little bit of photoshop magic especially around the eyes. I tend to just do a little bit if you want. I always think it’s good to look like you, but on a good day after 10 hours sleep! As opposed to photoshoped to within an inch of your life ready for a magazine cover!

I am well known for being a headshot photographer Guildford. I have taken hundreds of professional headshots for business people, actors, musicians, writers and daters!

Each session is bespoke. We start with a conversation about what you are looking for. Sometimes people want some straightforward headshots to be used for social media or other work occasions. Others are looking for actors headshots so these need a variety of expressions to make sure we show your versatility. Authors often need a book jacket shot and other options for their social media. Alternatively online daters often want a variety of outfits in different locations to show different sides of their personality. It’s important to show them at their best to increase their chances of meeting their Mr or Mrs Right!

I tend to do the headshot sessions in the studio and the studio gardens, but it doesn’t have to be. This allows us to be comfortable with clothes changes. Afterwards we see the pictures on the big screen and you choose your favourites. I edit them in front of you. So you have full control over any retouching you would like.

A headshot session including three high resolution digital files is £150. Or you could opt for a package including session fee and 10 digital files for £300.

If you are looking for some shots of you at your work or doing your job we can talk about options. ‘Meet the maker’ sessions are very popular. This involves me taking pictures of you making your product or your service. It’s so important to share the person behind your brand. People want to engage with you. It builds trust and your relationship with your client or customer.

I really enjoy being a headshot photographer Guildford in Surrey. As a result, over the past eight years I have taken hundreds of headshots for people from all walks of life. It’s always interesting to meet new people and understand what they are looking for. There have been actors, writers, business people and daters. Everybody can make good use of a professional headshot! Maybe you are looking for a new profile picture for social media? I love updating mine every so often!

Most sessions are undertaken in the garden of the studio. There are some really nice natural backdrops and flattering light. Further more, it also means that we can see the picture straightaway on the studio big screen. This makes you very much part of the selection process. However if you would like to take the pictures somewhere else, that is no problem. Maybe you would like to be captured in your place of work or other location. Is it important to be pictured doing your job? Maybe you are a maker, so we could capture you doing your craft?

The session costs £150 and includes three digital files. You can add on additional files for £35 each or you can go for a package of 10 files for a total investment of £300.

It was fun working with this business woman who wanted some headshots for work. She was so thrilled with them that she went for the larger package of 10 files. I am sure they will come in very useful.

It was great to hear again from the Lamda teacher who approached me in early March for some children’s acting headshots Woking. This time rather than attending herself, she was sending me father and son to come in and get some acting headshots. Luckily just before we were locked down!

We started by breaking the ice with finding out more about each other which always helps us to relax. We then went through his clothes to make sure we had enough variety.

What you wear is really important so if you’re coming in for some headshots do take time to consider a variety of clothes that can give a different look to headshots. Plain clothes are best. It’s okay to have a bit of a pattern but anything too bold can overpower a portrait. Try to avoid large logos because the eye is drawn towards them rather than looking at your face. I’m always happy to do a FaceTime call prior to your shoot if you want to go through your wardrobe to make sure we’re on track for the day.

When we start to take the pictures we test out whether the pictures look better from the left or right or straight on. Sometimes people have a ‘good’ side!
