It was such a pleasure to be chosen as the Horsley family photographer for this fabulous multi generational family photography session which took place in August on Pitch Hill in Surrey. The hill is special to the family as the grandparents live nearby and enjoy walking there. As you will see the views from the top are spectacular. It’s a beautiful area and a great choice for a Surrey family photo shoot.
We really enjoyed our time together, walking up the hill taking photos in some fun places as we went. The grandparents thoroughly enjoyed spending family time with two of their children, their partners and grandchildren. It was particularly special as one side of the family now live in Canada. I’m sure they will enjoy looking back at these treasured pictures when they are missing each other.
Afterwards the parents commented “The canvases of Mum and Dad and the cousins will remind us all of the lovely summer we have had. Thank you too for the brilliant photos-they really are fantastic!”
It really was my pleasure, thank you for choosing me, I am sure you will enjoy your portraits for years to come. You were all so much fun, it made my job very easy!
If you are looking for a Horsley family photographer I would love to hear from you. I photograph families all over Surrey and beyond.

Hello!
If you’ve not been on to my site before, welcome! Let me introduce myself. I am a professional Cranleigh photographer covering all of Surrey and surrounding counties. I specialise in bumps, babies, families and headshot photography.
When I first get an enquiry I like to chat to you about exactly what you are looking for. For instance how best can I meet your needs. This family session is a great example of a family enjoying spending time together. Furthermore it’s a place that is special to them. In this instance Pitch Hill which you may know is just above Cranleigh. I was so pleased they picked this spot as I love going there with my family too.
On the day
We met up in the car park. After that we started to climb and enjoyed getting to know each other. Meanwhile the children showed me their favourite places to play. With a family session I tend to take a variety of pictures that represent your family at this stage in your children’s lives. There are plenty of opportunities for family photos. Plus hildren’s portraits by themselves and together and of course lots with mummy and daddy.
Each session is very fluid, I know what combinations I want to get. But it’s always fun to see how the pictures develop throughout the session! I really enjoyed having their much loved dog along too! One of my favourite pictures is the one of the dog running towards me with the family in the background. So cute! The family are so lovely and it was clear to see how well the siblings get on together. There is a close bond between them all. It was so sweet. I think we walked for well over two hours because we were so busy chatting and enjoying our time together!
Review
I was thrilled to read this 5 * review the family kindly posted on google after.
“From the moment we got in touch with Nicola everything was very professional and well organised. On the day of the shoot Nicola was able to put everyone at ease and captured the most stunning pictures including our dog. When it was time to choose the pictures it was a difficult job. But Nicola had taken so many lovely ones and Nicola was able to offer helpful guidance on framing. Friends and family who have seen the framed pictures have all commented on how lovely they are. I would recommend Nicola in a heart beat. Thank you for making it such a special occasion for us.”
It was my pleasure guys, thank you so much for choosing me, you know I loved our session, you were brilliant! Keep in touch
If you are looking for a Cranleigh photographer I would love to chat further. If you would like to see more information on my website, follow the links to my family page, or past blog post. I look forward to hearing from you.

I loved being asked back as the Worplesdon family photographer for one of my most fun families. Always a treat! I have had the pleasure to photograph this gorgeous family on three separate occasions. Which included a Christmas card session for them. It was great fun, getting out the tinsel and Christmas lights! I always know I am going to laugh ALOT when I see them!
When their daughter was 5, the family started the tradition of having a family portrait lying on the ground every five years. The first time I met them was in 2013, when their daughter was 15. So you can see the difference over the last five years now she is 20! (compare the top two photos!) Their gorgeous daughter has matured from a beautiful girl to a stunning and delightful young lady. She is ready for University in September! I can’t quite believe where those 5 years have gone.
Spending time with these guys made me think about my children. They seem to be growing up far too fast, on the brink of 8 and 10!
Kind words
The family said after. ” We love working with Nicola, she is always fun and patient. This is our third session with Nicola. She is simply amazing at capturing family life, I can’t recommend her highly enough”.
Thank you so much. I think you know what a treat it is to capture your family and your pets too! I was pleased that their cat was still around so of course we had to take some pictures with him. Plus there was a new addition to the family, a rather lovable big dog! I do enjoy including our furry friends!

Guildford Photographer
On warm summer days like these when I head ‘off to work’ it really seems to me that being a Guildford photographer is the BEST job in the world. I get to meet so many gorgeous families from all over Surrey and beyond. This fabulous family from Guildford were such good fun a couple of weekends ago. Their daughters are delightful so with the sun shinning, the beautiful garden to explore, and much loved pets at the ready, we had the perfect ingredients for a family photography shoot! We really enjoyed exploring the garden, being guided by the girls to their favourite spots. I rather fancied spending the rest of the morning in that hammock!
The family are a great example of what to wear for a family photography shoot. Your clothing is a really important part of the overall look and feel of your portraits. Simple clothing choices are best for creating a timeless look. It’s good to show your individual style and personality through the clothes you select, but remember clothing should compliment your look, not complicate it!
Kind Review
I had a very kind review from the family after “We are thrilled with the photos that Nicola took. She made us feel so relaxed when she was taking the pictures and it was a really enjoyable morning. The final results are fantastic. We had so many beautiful photos to choose from and Nicola helped with advice on sizes and frames and the final results are fantastic. She has captured some wonderful, natural shots and we couldn’t be more delighted. We’d highly recommend using Nicola – we now have beautiful family photographs we can treasure forever.”
Thank you so much, I loved your session and am sure you will enjoy your portraits for years to come.
For more advice on what to wear or family session information follow the links or contact me.
I have very limited availability now for July and August (I have space for only one more Client in each month) so do get in touch if you’re looking for a Guildford photographer. I also cover much of Surrey, West Sussex and Berkshire.
Photographer Guildford
I was so pleased to be chosen by this lovely family who were looking for a photographer in Guildford. They wanted to capture their family for a relaxed home garden photography session. The children (and parents!) could not have been more delightful! We had the best couple of hours playing in the garden. We were discovering all their favourites places and generally enjoying family time together. I loved capturing them with their pets as well. Animals are such an important part of the family so I love including them too! I’ve had all sorts of animals to photograph, cats, dogs, chickens, pigs, deer, horses and rabbits! Nothing phases me. But I might not be too keen on a snake if you don’t mind!
Kind thoughts
The mother said after. ‘It was such a fun and relaxed morning with you. You were great with the girls and the animals! We love all the photos and will treasure them for many years’. My pleasure, I really enjoyed your session and am thrilled you love your portraits as much as I do. I am look forward to dropping off your stunning frames. They will look amazing!

Guildford Family Photoshoot
This lovely family wanted a Guildford family photoshoot. It was to mark the transition of their daughter’s journey from Junior to Senior school in September! I often observe such a change in girls from 11-13. It seems to me one of the stages in their lives when they seem to grow much quicker than in the preceding years. I am ever more conscious of this change for my own daughter, soon to be 10! She frequently reminds me it’s her first ‘double figures birthday Mummy’ which meets me with as much in trepidation as her building excitement! Once they are at senior school they seem to grow physically and mentally so much just in that first year. Often with the increased independence, responsibility, new peers, and access to mobile phones and social media pressures.
Much like this lovely family, I am rather grateful to savour these memories of a younger more innocent age. Just before my daughter is more fully exposed to the big wide world!
The family photoshoot took place in Clandon near Guildford. It was such a pleasure from start to finish. We used the most colourful corners of their garden to capture them having fun and remember all those things that their daughter particularly enjoys doing now like riding her bike, climbing trees, reading her favourite book and playing with her dog! The roses were stunning and I am sure I can still smell them! I was so pleased we had one set of grandparents along too! I always love bringing the generations together. It makes it so special. I am sure they will treasure these portraits.
Kind Words
I would like to thank the family for their kind words after their Guildford family photoshoot: “Nicola’s creative eye found the loveliest settings in our garden, resulting in wonderful images and memories that we’ll be able to enjoy in the years to come.”
If you’re interested in family photography please do see my family page, blog, or contact me for more information. Many thanks.

Guildford Family Photographer
Are you looking for a Guildford Family Photographer? If so, I think this session will give you a great flavour of what I enjoy capturing during a family photography session.
First of all I like to have a chat on the phone prior to the session, to understand more about your family. This might include what style of portraits are important to you and who will be there. In addition where we will shoot and of course offer advice on what to wear! When I arrive in your home or in your chosen location, we start by going through the plan. I have a quick run around to check out the best spots! Then it’s all systems go for having family fun with the children directing us most of the time!
The shoot evolves organically, there’s no set order for me taking pictures. I know I want to get all the usual combinations of whole family, single portraits, siblings together, with each parent etc. But the order we shoot, tends to unfold with how the sessions takes us! The flow of the shoot is very relaxed, informal and above all fun. That’s the best way to capture the essence of your personalities and your unique family story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this session taken last month in the Surrey Hills. The house and gardens are stunning, the sun was shinning and everyone was on great form so my job was very easy! The parents said after “thank you for a simply stunning set of pictures. We really love them.” My pleasure, that’s wonderful to hear, I am so glad. I can’t wait to deliver your frames!
Next Steps
If you’re looking for a Guildford Family Photographer or anywhere in Surrey or surrounding counties, I’d love to hear from you. More information can be found on family sessions, blogs or do contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.

2017 Family and headshot photography session highlights
So it seems I have still not found the magical solution to stopping time, even after trying a wide array of wands on a brilliant day out at Harry Potter World earlier this month! So for the time being, we shall all have to be content enjoying every day we do have with our family and friends even if they whizz by so quickly!
The reason I take so many photos of my children (several thousand each year!) is that I like to record the moments I might forget in years to come. It’s the little details that I love, sometimes overlooked. But in years to come will bring me such happiness when they remind me what they were like at that stage of their lives. I love looking at a portrait that brings back not only a visual reference to that moment but brings back the sound of the laughter, the warmth of the sunshine or the smell of the flowers. I certainly felt that when I looked through all the headshot and family photography sessions I had in 2017. They all brought back such happy memories of the fun we had during these family photoshoots. That’s the important word, ‘fun’! That really is the essence of my photography sessions. We are having fun, it shines through the pictures, brings out your true personalities, whilst you are having a great time! I am so pleased when people feedback that they didn’t realise it was going to be so much fun! That’s my aim, for your children to enjoy what they like doing best. If they are happy, you are happy and we can relax and enjoy ourselves!
Thank you so much for your support in 2017, it really has meant so much to me! It was an amazing year and I feel very honoured to have captured such special moments for so many lovely families. I have lots of exciting plans for 2018, and look forward to sharing these with you soon!
If you’re reading this, and thinking about a session in 2018, I do hope that these highlights below from sessions in Surrey, Berkshire and Sussex give you a flavour of my style and that you feel I might be the right photographer to capture some memories for you to treasure for a lifetime. I look forward to hearing from you. Contact me.
Many thanks for reading.
