Well what a treat it was to undertake a Guildford Mini Family Photoshoot for this gorgeous mummy and son! Tessa approached me a few weeks ago looking for a family photo shoot for herself and son. At first I wasn’t sure I was the right photographer for her as she didn’t want a full 2 hour photoshoot. Rather she wanted just digital files that she could then print for her husband for Christmas. However after chatting on the phone, I really liked her. I felt an instant connection and wanted to work with her somehow.
One of the many benefits of having my own business is that I can ‘sail my own ship’! Hence I introduced for Tessa a special mid week mini shoot! It evolved from a discussion we had to meet her needs. Whilst still being comparable with my full family shoots. The session was designed to be shorter than a full session. Therefore the shooting part takes just 30 minutes (rather than 2 hours). The session needed to take place near the studio. So I offered Tessa my garden or the woods right by my house. I was pleased when she went for the woods. I thought it gave us more options for catching the morning sunlight.
You can see from the results that the morning couldn’t have been more idyllic! When we met I first noted her great choice of clothing, she had found my guide to what to wear useful. We had a lovely time playing in the woods and ensuring we captured her son’s true personality. He was such a cheery little chap, it was pretty easy! Then we headed to the studio to upload the pictures for Tessa’s instant viewing.
We took around 200 pictures, which we then went through narrowing it down to her favourites. Usually for family sessions the viewing is around a week later. This is when I’ve narrowed down a final edited selection of around 75 pictures to view. So the mini session worked slightly differently as Tessa narrowed down her choices straight after.
The package cost £395 which included 10 digital files. However Tessa loved many more, so chose 10 additional pictures for £150 extra. She was with me for around 2 hours in total. After leaving I did the final edit of the 20 digital files which I sent through to her the a few days later. So with such a successful inaugural mini shoot, I am introducing them on a more regular basis!
In order for the mini shoots to fit in with the rest of my services for headshots, family photography and commercial photography. Mini shoots will run on the following lines:
Tess said after the session:
‘I absolutely love the autumn sun and really wanted this to feature in my son’s session. Nicola understood this perfectly and took us to a beautiful spot in the wood. We played around with the sun in just the way I wanted. The photographs are absolutely stunning. The fact that my son is grinning in pretty much every one is testament to how fun Nicola made the shoot. Thank you so much for creating such incredible photos of my little man. I couldn’t be happier 😊’
My pleasure Tessa, I loved our session and thanks for helping develop this new offering! I am always looking for ways to add value to my Clients. Also to serve as many different people as possible. So it’s great to be able to introduce a new way to capture more families that this particular session might suit!
