It was such a treat to be the photographer for Surrey family – Bruno, Jenni and their son Alexei a couple of weeks ago! It was my second time photographing the family so it was lovely documenting Alexei now age 4!
We had a false start the week prior due to the rain, so we were raring to go when we met up and the skies were clear! Jenni really wanted a shoot in the bluebells, as it’s one of her favourite flowers and you can see why from the portraits!
When Jenni and I were having a pre shoot consultation we talked about what Alexei liked doing, what were his favourite toys, books and things to do. This is an important part of every shoot, because by letting the children do what they want to do, it helps put them at ease and brings out their natural personalities. It became clear that playing outside and riding his tractor were pretty high up there on his list, so we brought the tractor to the woods – battery powered no less! I wanted to drive it, it was so cool! It could get a bit of speed up, and Alexei was very cheeky speeding past me – I had to increase my shutter speed! We all had such fun, and Alexei – who is full of energy and rarely stands still (like most 4 year old boys!) was keen on searching for treasure and adventure in the woods! When Bruno and Jenni look back at these photos it’ll be special to remember what Alexei enjoyed doing at this age. Thank you guys for letting me capture your story. x
