It’s that time again – Father’s Day is just a few weeks away, and no doubt you’re thinking of ways to come up with a fun and special gift for your father or for the father of your little ones! Look no further – I offer Father’s Day Vouchers! The vouchers (£95) can be used anytime in the next 12 months and include your session, my editing time and presentation of approximately 50 beautiful portraits, and a mounted 8″x6″ print of your favourite portrait from the session. When you book a session, I love to find outdoor locations that are special to you, where your children can play and have fun, and you can enjoy capturing some memories for you to treasure for a lifetime.

Below, there are a selection of some of my favourite recent dad photos – I love the connection between father and son/daughter, it’s so special.  Not only do dads love recording these special cuddles and moments shared, but in years to come the children will have a wonderful collection of photos with their Fathers.

The top photo below is of my own dear dad who at 70, is still looking great for his age, including a very full head of magnificent silver hair! Although dad, who has been registered blind for many years, still believes he has black hair – and who are we to tell him :-).  I have always seen my father as a superhero and someone who I continue to look up to. Our relationship has always been strong, we remain very close and since being a parent myself, I respect and appreciate him even more for the sacrifices he made when we were growing up.  He is kind, funny, thoughtful, a constant source of support and encouragement. He’s always right (although I’d never have admitted that in my teens!) and offers the best advice in the world. He has never let his blindness get him down, or stopped him achieving such an incredible amount, I really don’t know how he does it. He is one of the most optimistic, positive and amazing people and I feel so honoured and grateful to be his daughter. I love you with all my heart dad, and I’d give anything to give you the opportunity to see your beautiful grandchildren even for just one day. I hope that my son grows up to be as amazing as his wonderful Grandpa. On the 17th June I’ll be raising my glass to you, Happy Father’s Day 2012!

I’d love to hear what’s special about your dad – post a thought below the photos….

It was such a treat to be the photographer for Surrey family – Bruno, Jenni and their son Alexei a couple of weeks ago! It was my second time photographing the family so it was lovely documenting Alexei now age 4!

We had a false start the week prior due to the rain, so we were raring to go when we met up and the skies were clear! Jenni really wanted a shoot in the bluebells, as it’s one of her favourite flowers and you can see why from the portraits!

When Jenni and I were having a pre shoot consultation we talked about what Alexei liked doing, what were his favourite toys, books and things to do.  This is an important part of every shoot, because by letting the children do what they want to do, it helps put them at ease and brings out their natural personalities. It became clear that playing outside and riding his tractor were pretty high up there on his list, so we brought the tractor to the woods – battery powered no less! I wanted to drive it, it was so cool!  It could get a bit of speed up, and Alexei was very cheeky speeding past me – I had to increase my shutter speed! We all had such fun, and Alexei – who is full of energy and rarely stands still (like most 4 year old boys!) was keen on searching for treasure and adventure in the woods! When Bruno and Jenni look back at these photos it’ll be special to remember what Alexei enjoyed doing at this age. Thank you guys for letting me capture your story. x

For those of you that are regulars to my blog, you will know I LOVE photographing babies! Most weeks I am lucky enough to be photographing babies in Guildford, Surrey and South London. It’s that gorgeous newborn baby smell, seeing all those little folds and creases and capturing the wonderful growing bond between mummy/daddy and their precious new baby. I am in awe of these little miracles and seeing them always makes me broody again!

But sadly within the photography industry, there are no regulations in place for photographing babies. For this very reason I advise you to make your choice of photographer not only on quality of images and price, but also on their training, experience and level of safety. I am proud to have been accepted as a member of ‘The International Association of Newborn Photographers’ and the ‘British Association of Newborn Photographers’. As such, I have been assessed to be of a high professional standard and am appropriately skilled to work with babies. You can be assured that I adhere to their strict code of conduct at all times, so when you hand over your precious bundle, my priority will be their safety and comfort.

If you’re looking for pregnancy, newborn baby, children’s photography or family portraits in Surrey or the surrounding counties I’d love to hear from you.
