I am well known for being a Godalming Surrey family photographer. With around 10 years experience I’ve travelled all over Surrey capturing happy families. From engaged couples, small weddings to bumps, babies, christenings, families and extended family gatherings. I love to capture them all.
Particularly enjoyable are the shoots where different generations come together. I really treasure the pictures of my parents with my children and know they will too in years to come. I do quite a lot of celebrations for wedding anniversaries and milestone birthdays. I’ve done 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th but not a 100th party!
This family photography shoot was great fun. The parents had their work cut out with four children under six! But the children were so well-behaved we had a great time. They were full of beans which shows in the pictures. We took all of the pictures at home in the garden which made the children more relaxed and easier to control with four of them running in different directions!
The main objective was to get a really great picture of the six of them and also the four children together. So we focused a lot on these combinations. It was great using their climbing frame which added some fun and colour.

Guildford Surrey Children’s Photographer
What a great time I had as the Guildford Surrey Children’s Photographer for one of my favourite families. I have been so lucky to have photographed both brothers and their families on two previous occasions. So this time it was great fun to bring together both families and all the cousins.
We had hoped to do this one earlier in the year but due to lockdown it wasn’t possible. So we were very lucky to get this one in during the window before the rule of six came in!
We undertook the session in the grandparents garden. Although they were more keen to observe than be included!
Their extensive garden is absolutely stunning. There were so many fun pockets to explore. We took full advantage of using the beautiful flower beds. We also explored the different levels of the garden and the woods. The children enjoyed showing me their favourite places. This included the swings and running on the lawn.
Kind words
I had a very kind email following their session.
‘Thank you Nicola for another fun, relaxed session. You know how to keep the children going!’
My absolute pleasure guys. It was a real treat to see you all again. The children have grown so much. It never fails to surprise me how much they grow at this age. It was so special to see the cousins enjoying time together. I’m so pleased you love the portraits. I’m sure you will both enjoy the frames on your walls, plus the grandparents on theirs.
If you’re looking for a family session in the next few months I am holding off any extended family shoots beyond six people. The guidelines change all the time so I will be reviewing it as the government will.
I’m very happy to do shoots for six and under so do
get in contact if you’re looking for an autumn session.

It was such a treat being the Dorking Surrey family photographer for this lovely family. It was important for them to include their lovely dog. So the natural choice was to do the photo shoot in their garden. Miraculously I took this these pictures on a a mixed weather day. Showers were forecast for the day so we took the decision at the last minute to go ahead with the shoot when it looked like it would be dry.
We were so lucky that we didn’t have a drop of rain for the hour and a half that I was with them. I always make a decision with you if the forecast looks mixed. We keep in regular contact for the 24 hours before the shoot to see what we think. Sometimes the rain can bypass at the last minute! We definitely don’t want to shoot in the rain, although the odd light shower is okay.
I can easily spot nice areas in the garden to shoot in. I like to use the combination of flowers, trees and grass to get a mixture of angles. It was fun incorporating the climbing frame to show them enjoying having time in the garden.
All the children are very accomplish saxophone players. It was important for them to capture them playing. We quite liked the black-and-white version as it looked so timeless and classic. Whatever you are in to, I’m happy to incorporate this into the shoot so you can remember this in years to come.

I really enjoy undertaking family photography Surrey sessions throughout the year. With almost 10 years experience of capturing happy families, there aren’t many areas I haven’t been to!
Looking back over the years it’s been such a pleasure to create such memories for so many families. I really enjoyed this fabulous family photography session. The pictures were taken in their Surrey garden. It was an obvious location because the children are very relaxed there, the garden is very beautiful with the most amazing views! We also had a chance to include the dog, cats, and chickens!
I’ve noticed lots of people getting chickens and puppies during lockdown! Families are often keen to include their much loved pets. It’s really fun to include them as of course they are an important part of the family.
During the session we moved around the family’s beautiful garden and fields. It’s nice to mix it up rather than just stay in one place. I usually let the children lead the way and decide where we go.
I had a very kind 5* review after (thank you so much!)… ‘Nicola took the most beautiful pictures of our family. We couldn’t be happier with them.’
Ideas on your session
Perhaps you have a lovely garden you would like to use? Otherwise maybe a local park or gardens. If you wish to book a session we can chat about where is special to you. If there is nowhere in particular then I’m happy to make some recommendations based on the time of year.

I am a Woking family children’s photographer but I operate all over Surrey and beyond. This lovely family and I had such fun on this Woking family photo shoot. We undertook the session in a local gardens. They were in full bloom and looking magnificent.
The location of the shoot is your choice. If there is somewhere special that you like going like a local woods or park these are great choices. Or we can shoot in your own garden. If there is nowhere in particular I’m happy to make some suggestions. This will likely differ throughout the year because the seasons dictate where looks best throughout the year.
I had such a lovely time with this family. The boys are gorgeous and such fun. We really enjoyed wandering around the gardens taking pictures at different spots as we went.
The family are a great example of what to wear. I have a dedicated page to help you get started. It’s one of the questions I get asked the most prior to the session. Recommend picking 2 to 3 colours that compliment each other. A bit of pattern or stripe is fine but not on everybody. As it becomes too busy. I also tend to avoid words or large logos on clothing because it is distracting. Clients often send me photos of various outfit options so that I can make sure you are as relaxed and prepared on the day.
More information
If you would like to see more examples of family sessions please see my family information page. There are lots of other pages about investment, past blogs and of course the option to contact me. Every session is bespoke so I’d be very happy to chat through your needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

If you are looking for some Guildford Surrey family photography this summer I would be delighted to help. As you will see from the pictures below I had such a lovely time with this family from Guildford.
Before the session we chatted about locations which naturally ended up being their garden. We also took a walk to the woods nearby. I loved the tree that had fallen down. It added such an amazing structure to the portraits. It was a very hot sunny day so we stuck to the more shadier parts of the garden. I always face the sun, with your back to it. This means you’re not squinting and all feel comfortable.
We chatted before about clothes. There is a link to what to wear I send to clients. It helps to think about the colour palette and importantly what not to wear!
The children were great fun. They showed me round the garden and all their favourite places. Of course we had to include the climbing frame, and the rubber tyre.
At the end of the photography session I suggested they could have a cold dip in the pool. They then suggested to jump in with all their clothes on! It was very funny. Rather tempted myself!
The family are moving at the end of the month so these pictures taken around the garden will be a wonderful memento.
I had a very kind 5* google review from the family after the session “Nicola made us feel so at ease and she is a natural at getting the best photos. Loved the results. Thank you Nicola so much.” It was my absolute pleasure, thank you for choosing me!

Are you looking for a pet photographer Surrey? I travel all over Surrey and beyond capturing happy families with their pets. I also do photoshoots solely for animals. So whatever your needs are, I’d be delighted to chat if you are looking for a pet photographer Surrey.
This was such a lovely family session including the two gorgeous dogs. Plus granny too with her lovely dog. It’s so important to include our furry friends. I have photographed so many different pets. For example cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, tortoises, horses, pigs, rabbits and chickens! I might have to draw the line at a snake though as I think I’m rather phobic.
It was a beautiful summary day when I arrived to take the pictures. The sun was shining and everyone was in great spirits. We moved around their beautiful garden capturing the family enjoying time together. We made sure that the dogs were in plenty of pictures of course.
The pond was a great focal point. Check out mummy duck with her little ducklings. They were so sweet! I’d imagine the water is a nice spot for the dogs to cool down in on a hot summers day. Thankfully there was no swimming on the shoot day though!
I have included below some examples of frames. I always do this at viewings so that it helps the family gather ideas about what to do with their portraits. Sometimes it can be quite overwhelming to see so many beautiful pictures. But I have some great software to help you choose what is right for your home and budget.

I loved this Woking family photography shoot that I took last month. The family booked the session as a voucher last year. We had such a great time from start to finish. It was lovely that we also had granny along with us. We took our time exploring the gardens which were looking stunning. We enjoyed the swings, some running races, playing in the long grass and climbing statues!
I tend to let children direct the shoot. It’s lovely when they show me where they want to go and what they want to do.
You’ll be able to see below some examples of the frames I showed them at the viewing session. I always include some examples as it helps to get you thinking about what you might want to do with your portraits. There are lots of examples in the studio so you can have a look during your viewing for. I’m happy to advise you on choosing a frame that will suit your home, your personality and your budget.
Kind Review
I had such a lovely five star review from them after. ”Nicola made our family photo shoot in our favourite local gardens a natural, easy and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The stunning images that Nicola produced capture really special moments of a lovely day. So much so that I was really quite emotional during the slideshow. We are looking forward to adding her beautiful images to our home.” It was absolutely my pleasure. Thank you so much for choosing me. I really enjoyed our time together.

Guildford Surrey children’s photography
I really loved the Surrey children’s photography session for this boy from Guildford. He was looking for a set of pictures for his acting portfolio. His Lamda teacher has been sending her students to me for a while. It’s always such a pleasure to meet these children who have such obvious talent. This young man was extremely mature, polite and will no doubt go far.
Reviews
It was such a delight to read these two google five-star reviews after the session.
“It was such a great experience! I really enjoyed having the photos taken and going through them as well. Nicola was really lovely and knew exactly which type of shots I needed. It was great to have a contrast of background in the photos. Even though I can’t smile, Nicola helped with every aspect and they all turned out amazingly.”
“My son has just been for a headshot session with Nicola. We are thrilled with the whole experience! He was pretty nervous going in, but five minutes into the shoot, he relaxed and loved every minute. In addition Nicola gave him loads of ideas and tips and her garden makes for a beautiful setting. Most importantly the final results are stunning. Therefore I couldn’t recommend Nicola highly enough!”
Thank you so much guys, it really was my pleasure. I’m so glad you loved your portraits as much as I did.
As with all headshot sessions, you are welcome to bring several changes of clothes. This helps to mix up your look, along with a range of expressions and backgrounds. It’s important to show your versatility to casting agents. All these headshots were taken in the studio garden. This enables us to upload the pictures to the big screen straight after and for you to choose your favourites. It’s a very easy relaxing process.

It was another beautiful day for this family photography Woking session at this National Trust garden. I met the family last year at a Christmas fair where they bought a voucher. The parents are also getting married in September. I am delighted to be covering this small wedding for them. It’s at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire which I hear is rather nice! So I can’t wait for that.
So this family session was a great opportunity to get to know them better. We can also use one of the family shots in a mounted signboard for their big day.
We had a great afternoon looking around the gardens. The little girl was great fun. She really got into directing the shoot and posing!
It was the first time I have been to a National Trust place since the pandemic. But it was very easy and enjoyable. There were one-way signs around the garden to avoid getting close to people. Everyone was being very respectful. The garden was looking beautiful so we had plenty of choice to take the pictures.
More Information
If you would like to visit one of the National Trust properties, the tickets are released every Friday morning. If you go online you can choose your slot the following week. Tickets are limited so you don’t need to worry about overcrowding. It’s great to support charities like the National Trust who have lost so much funding over the last few months.
If you are looking for family photography Woking then please do get in touch. You may wish to see my family page or blog post. My summer dates are almost full and the autumn is limited now. So I would suggest getting in touch sooner rather than later. I look forward to hearing from you.
